Women Called

Women called.
Called by God to a greater love,
Love propelled these women beyond themselves.
Themselves, unsure of what was to be and what the future held.
Held in the certain hope that God would not let them down they gave.
Gave consent, a constant yes in all that they knew and experienced.
Experienced in what youth and hope could offer going forward in faith.
Faith in God, each other and the monastic call they embraced.
Embraced by nothing else for the world and work was harsh, unbending
Unbending but strong these women too, learning wisdom on the way, seeking.
Seeking out the God who calls women of yesterday and today.
Today we know gratitude for the ones, who went before,
Before us now are the women called beyond tomorrow
Tomorrow is unknown and quickly here
Here by a greater love God still calls women.
